Hydrochemical Studies

Water Quality analysis program is annually conducted by Groundwater Resources Development Project as one of its annual program in terai districts of Nepal. The organization consists of a chemical laboratory in its central office at Babarmahal, Kathmandu which is equipped with various laboratory instruments like spectrophotometer, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, Hydride Generator and field instruments like EC, pH, DO meters etc. The organization carries out mainly following activities regarding water quality:

  • analysis of physical-chemical parameters of water samples collected from the shallow and deep aquifers/tubewells in terai district.
  • arsenic testing program in order to identify the arsenic contaminated wells.
  • to find out the suitability of water from the tubewells developed by GWRDP for irrigation purpose.
  • to keep record of the water quality analysis results of its yearly program.
